Dr. Knight was born in 1922 in Hartford, Connecticut. She
attended Northeastern University where she received her
undergraduate degree in Education Administration Leadership
and Supervision with an inside minor in Counseling and an
outside minor in Sociology. She then earned her Master's at
Harvard in Sociology and followed that with a PhD in Education
Management and Leadership Supervision at the Harvard Graduate
School of Education.

Throughout her life Dr. Knight has been very active in the Civil
Rights movement. She marched in Selma, Alabama when the
Cofo workers were killed and she was standing on the parapet
during Dr. Martin Luther King's 'I Have a Dream Speech'.
